Wendy Kent's Enormous Smile I met John one afternoon, just before knockoff time. I could tell that he was lonely. When I showed him Today, Tomorrow and You, he was very interested in the chapter titled “Divine Healing,” as he was still recovering from a stroke that he had had six years previously.

He told me he didn't have a lot of money, so I showed him the correspondence courses and signed him up. He asked me what religion I belonged to and seemed delighted that I was from the same religion as the driver who took him to Brisbane in the Airport Flyer. They were always so kind to him.

I asked him if he would like to go to church, at which he replied, “I would love to, but I want you to know that even if you don't come and pick me up, I will still be ready.” John was finally baptised on December 31, 2005. We heard the angels sing!

John has been a blessing to the Glenvale Church and Community Centre, in Queensland. He loves our books, and so far he has purchased Today, Tomorrow and You, Everything a Growing Child Should Know, Messiah, Foods Encyclopedias, Bible, and two and a half sets of the Sammy Series, which he gave to the primary Sabbath school children for Christmas. - Wendy Kent, Northern Area
